Briese Crewing Georgia maritime agency started its operations on February 1, 2023, as one of the branches of Briese Crew Management Germany. Briese Crewing Georgia is fully licensed under the MLC (Maritime Labor Convention, 2006). We provide a full range of services related to the recruitment, manning and employment of highly skilled candidates on marine vessels of Briese Schiffahrt GmbH German shipping company, for all maritime professions certified in compliance with the requirements of the STCW 95 International Convention.
Briese Crewing Georgia: the Main Partner of Briese Crew Management in Georgia
Briese Crewing Georgia maritime agency is the main Georgian partner of Briese Schiffahrt GmbH & Co Kg ship operating companies based in Germany. Our cooperation is based on direct hiring, which excludes problems and costs connected with mediation and double agency, and enables our Agency to provide efficient crewing for more than 150 Company’s ships, including such types of vessels as Containers, Bulkers, Heavy Lift Vessels, Multi-Purpose Vessels, and Coasters.
History of Establishment of the Company
Briese Schiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG, with its headquarters based in Leer, was founded in 1984 by a Professor and Master Mariner Roelf Briese.
From the very beginning, the Company has been focused on the general/multi- purpose cargo and heavy cargo market. The Company constantly modernizes its fleet (the average age of the vessels is not more than 7 years). The Company has its own Chartering Divisions, BBC Chartering and Briese Chartering, which jointly provide more than 300 vessels chartering services worldwide, and are the world leaders in the transportation of general/multi-purpose and heavy cargoes.
Briese Schiffahrt Head Office Functions Include:
- Analysis of marine transportation markets with subsequent construction, development and planning of cargo ship projects by engineers from Briese Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG.
- Development of fully integrated logistics models for global shippers
- Resource scheduling and planning, freight acquisition, chartering of ships, signing freight contracts, optimization of transportation workflows
- Audit and compliance with national and international maritime regulations
- Purchase and sale of ships on the domestic market and from/to international ship operating companies.
- Technical and marine maintenance and providing for operational readiness of ships
- Ship certification
- Repair and inspection of ships in German and international ports
- Miscellaneous ship supplies
- Crewing by own crewing department, including crewing for foreign companies
- Control over the construction of new ships in Germany and abroad
- Registration of ships under German and international flags
- Scheduling for ships in dock (inspectors establish available shipyard capacity on anticipated routes in collaboration with the charterer [or immediate availability in case of damage], prepare bids, select shipyard, arrange repairs/other work, introduce service engineers, supervise over the dock, inspect/verify performance and completion dates, inspect/verify work at shipyard, and issue of the final invoice and preparation of relevant documentation at the Head Office)

Education: Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy, St. Petersburg (1989- 1995). Faculty: Ship Navigation, from 1995 he worked at Baltic Shipping Company as navigator, from 1996 started his work at Briese Schiffahrt GmbH as a Watch officer and Chief Mate, since 2001 he had been promoted as Captain on vessels operated by Briese Schiffahrt GmbH, from 2003 he was the Director of Briese Swallow Sevastopol, since 2014 the Director of Briese Crewing Ukraine, and from 2023 he has been the Director of Briese Crewing Georgia.
Crew Manager:
Alina Sergeyevna Chikranova.
Education: Admiral F.F. Ushakov State Maritime University, Novorossiysk (2008- 2014) Faculty: Navigation, major: Technical Operation of Radio Equipment. From 2014, she had been working at Ipotektsentr crewing company as Passports and Visas Manager and was engaged in selection of crew for Zodiac Maritime Agencies. From 2016, she worked at Valrus LLC, Altoprae Marine LLC, Arcas Russia LLC agent companies as a ship agent. Since 2023, she has been the Crew Manager at Briese Crewing Georgia.
Training and Recruitment Officer
Sergey Anatolyevich Stolyarov.
Education: Graduated from the Navigation Faculty of Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy, St. Petersburg, in 2000. Since 2000, he worked on merchant ships as the Third Officer, the Second Officer and the Chief Officer. Since 2016, he had been working at Briese Schiffahrt GmbH as the Training and Recruitment Officer. Since March 2023, he has been working at Briese Crewing Georgia in Batumi.

Being the main partner of Briese Schiffahrt GmbH & Co Kg in Georgia, in our daily activities we are guided by the principles and requirements defined in the Company’s Policy and clearly understand that only human resources ashore and on a vessel, their highly skilled training, motivation and conscientious attitude to their duties, as well as comprehensive coordination of all onshore units, can ensure quality and safe operation of vessels.
Our staff is composed of experienced and skilled crewing managers with the industry-specific education, work experience at sea, who are well aware of the fact that successful and efficient work depends on competent and close cooperation of the shore and ship personnel, being attentive to the Agency’s clients, and accurate performance of their duties.
The main criteria for selecting candidates for employment at Briese Schiffahrt GmbH & Co Kg are professional qualities and work experience. Also, one of the decisive criteria is the level of knowledge of English in relevant field, according to the requirements defined by the Company.
Taking into consideration the above, the registration in the Agency’s database of the Agency is made (with the availability of full package of documents) only after a detailed interview in English with the Director/Master Mariner and/or a representative of Briese Schiffahrt.
All Agency’s services are free of charge for seafarers.
